I’m From Fig Cleansing Balm Review

When did you first know the double cleansing method? For me, I’ve been doing double cleansing method BUT with makeup wipes! Yes, before I knew about Korean skincare I was that kind of girl. Using micellar water, wipes, and sometimes not even using a water-based cleanser after because I thought that’s enough. So it’s been a happy blessing jumping into this community, I’ve learned a lot!

The learning doesn’t stop! It’s always an “ohh” moment for me! I’ve never tried products with Fig nor have I even seen the Fig fruit! Just this month [May], I’m From introduced a new line called FIG! I’ve been incorporating them slowly because my skin has been acting up so I apologize that I can’t give a full FIG review in one post. So, let’s start, shall we?

Im From Fig Cleansing Balm Product Review

What is it and what does it supposed to do?

This cleansing balm consists of 7.8% Fig and Oil Water to gently cleanse all impurities from the skin, and help with blackhead care. Ingredient extracted by Oil Macerating Extraction Method – only by I’m From.

Let’s list the major benefits that we will about to rate at the end of this review:

  • Removes dirt and makeup residue
  • Smooth and moisturizing finish with Peptide and Amino Acid
  • Blackheads care

Packaging

The product is housed inside a big maroon plastic jar with a plastic lid and it comes with a small scoop inside. It’s a bit big and might take up space when traveling.

Period After Opening is 12M. I’m From products doesn’t have the PAO label on the product nor in the packaging. I’ve already emailed Wishtrend regarding this and they confirmed that all I’m From products have a PAO of 12 months.

Texture and Scent

It’s a very light pink sherbet-like balm with a smooth texture when rubbed between the palms. The scent is a bit sweet but since I haven’t seen nor smelled the scent of the Fig fruit I’m not sure if they bear the same smell. It might be the fragrance added.

Ingredients

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyethylene, Synthetic Wax, Ficus carica (FIG) Fruit Extract, Peg-10 Isostearate, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fragrance, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Curcuma longa (turmeric) Root Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Bark Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract

Key Ingredients

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate – an odorless and colorless emollient ester that gives a velvety and silky feel to the skin. [Source: Incidecoder]

Ficus carica (Fig) Fruit Extract – a rich source of a class of antioxidants known as phenolic compounds. Fig has been shown to enhance the skin’s hydration by preventing water loss from the skin’s uppermost layers, and it can also visibly improve skin color. But there’s more, fig has also helped reduce uncomfortably dry, tight skin, including compromised, redness-prone skin. [Source: Paula’s Choice Website]

Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil – coming from the seeds of the Moringa tree, a big white-flowered tree native to India. A yellow oil rich in nourishing and moisturizing fatty acid, oleic, and behenic acid that makes it stable and gives a long shelf life. [Source: Incidecoder]

Curcuma longa (Turmeric) Root Extract – a traditional herbal medicine used in Ayurveda for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticarcinogenic properties. [Source: Incidecoder]

How to Use?

Use it as the first step of your double cleansing method. By using your fingertips, massage it gently onto the skin. Massage it for a minute and wash off with lukewarm water. [Focus on areas with heavy makeup i.e. lips and eyes]

My Experience

I’ve used this religiously, and I mean using it every night except with those nights where I have to skip because I was too lazy or whatever. Yeah, I still have those nights. It was such a treat adding up a cleansing balm at night. It’s not just an extra pamper sesh but it’s extra cleaning too! I’ve not used this with makeup on but I’ll update this blog when I do so with different ratings! PS. I use sunscreens every day, be it physical or chemical.

This one spreads easily, from a sherbet-like texture to a thick oil consistency to a milky texture when in contact with water. My skin felt soft and supple after rinsing which means it doesn’t strip off moisture from your skin. This helped clean out my sebaceous filaments, I don’t have that much of blackheads. I’d see bits of sebaceous filaments from massaging my skin and it felt so satisfying! (When you know they’re icky but seeing them out of their little pore-houses feels so satisfying) After using a second cleanser my skin felt clean and hydrated at the same time!

It feels light after use but since I have oilier skin during summertime I have visibly larger pores. I don’t see any big difference with pores but then again this isn’t intended for shrinking pore-care but for cleaning out the gross parts. This needs extra care with BHA or Salicylic Acid and you can check out Fiddy Snail’s Gritting Method to help you clear it out!

Rating on every major benefit claimed by the product:

  • Removes dirt and makeup residue ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5, but let’s have the makeup residue test on a new update!
  • Smooth and moisturizing finish with Peptide and Amino Acid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
  • Blackheads care but I’d rather rate Sebaceous Filaments care ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Precautions

  1. It includes fragrance and is high on the ingredient list, in 8th place.
  2. Fig contains a group of naturally-occurring compounds known as psoralens. These can make the skin more sensitive to sun exposure so make sure to apply sunscreen every day, though you really need to apply sunscreen every day! [Source: Paula’s Choice Website]

FINAL VERDICT and OVERALL PRODUCT RATING: 5/5 overall I enjoyed using this with the sweet scent and smooth texture upon application. I couldn’t speak for those with blackheads but this one helped out with my sebaceous filaments! This light pink sherbet-like balm cleanses well and leaves your skin soft and supple, so long as your water-based cleanser has a low pH and doesn’t strip off moisture as well!
